The pontoons are modular, side-mounted contact blocks that dramatically increase the contact surface between the shoe and pedal. Inspired by early road racing cleat hacks, they are:
- Stable: Rock-solid pedal engagement in any cleat position
- Adjustable: Pedaling efficiency wherever you set your cleats
- Replaceable: Pop in new lugs for a fresh grip before race day
This isn’t just a more stable SPD shoe—it’s an SPD shoe that acts like an SPD-SL on the bike and an XC shoe off it.
Installing the pontoons is refreshingly straightforward. Bolt them on, mount your SPD cleats, and you’re ready to ride. While they’ll work with any SPD-compatible pedal, we recommend pairing with the XTR PD-M9100 or PD-M8100 for maximum harmony.
